If the control levers are in neutral for more than 4 seconds, the engine automatically drops to idle. This reduces fuel consumption by up to 10% and significantly extends the service interval of air and fuel filters.

Models like the U35 allow the operator to rotate the cab within the width of the tracks. In the used market, “U” models fetch a 15% premium because they are the only machines that can safely dig right next to a wall or fence without damage.

Micro-excavators often work in mud. Check for “play” by pushing the boom against the ground to lift the tracks. If there is more than 2-3mm of movement in the swing circle, it indicates the machine was used for heavy prying, which can be a costly repair.

Many used Kubotas come with a programmed “Green” and “Red” key system. Without the master key, the engine controller cannot be bypassed, significantly lowering the insurance risk and theft probability for machines left on job sites overnight.
